GTA 6 Cheats & Codes
Cheat codes are a Rockstar tradition dating back to GTA III in 2001 — button combos on PS2, phone-number dial codes in GTA V, keyword strings on PC. Every mainline Grand Theft Auto game has shipped with cheats for single-player mode, and GTA 6 will almost certainly follow the same pattern. This guide explains what we know about GTA 6's cheat system based on Rockstar's historical cadence, what categories to expect at launch, how they'll interact with trophies and Social Club tracking, and how our community-maintained cheat tracker will handle the launch-day discovery rush.
Will GTA 6 have cheat codes?
Almost certainly yes for single-player mode. Every mainline GTA since GTA III has shipped with cheats — that includes GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, and GTA V. Rockstar has never publicly commented on GTA 6 cheats specifically, but their historical pattern is so consistent that a cheat-less launch would be a significant break from tradition and would generate its own news cycle. Neither has happened.
GTA Online 2 (the multiplayer mode) will not have cheats. Every Rockstar multiplayer since GTA IV has been cheat-free by design, and GTA Online 2 is expected to launch with a stronger anti-cheat layer than the original GTA Online — reportedly BattlEye or a Rockstar-in-house equivalent, based on job postings for anti-cheat engineers over the last two years.
How Rockstar typically distributes cheats
In GTA V, cheats were controller button combos plus phone-number cheats — dial a specific number in Franklin, Michael, or Trevor's in-game cellphone and the effect activates. Rockstar drip-fed them over the first 3 months post-launch: a batch on launch day, another batch after week two, more after the first patch. This staggered release is deliberate — it kept the cheat-discovery cycle in the news past launch week.
GTA 6 will almost certainly follow the same phone-based system. Datamined UI strings in the 2022 leak reference a cellphone interface for both Jason and Lucia, which matches GTA V's setup. Expect a mix of controller button combos (mostly cosmetic and weapon-loadout cheats) and phone dial codes (mostly effects that change world state like weather or wanted level).
Cheat categories to expect at launch
Based on the last four GTA games, expect the launch cheat menu to cover at minimum the following categories. Each of these has appeared in every mainline GTA since San Andreas.
- Weapons loadouts (multiple variants — one for basic, one for advanced)
- Health / armor / infinite ammo (usually three separate cheats)
- Wanted-level manipulation (raise one star, lower one star, clear entirely)
- Weather control (sunny, cloudy, rainy, stormy, foggy — five variants in GTA V)
- Vehicle spawns (each vehicle class typically gets one signature cheat)
- Character abilities (super jump, slow-mo aim, fast run, drunk mode)
- Character-swap or costume codes (rare, usually for post-story unlocks)
- World-state cheats (spawn a parachute, spawn a jetpack — jetpack is the ongoing series meme)
Do cheats disable trophies/achievements?
Yes — expect this to carry over. In GTA V, using any cheat during a play session disabled trophies/achievements until you reload from a save. GTA 6 will almost certainly follow the same rule. Cheats also disable Rockstar Social Club stat tracking for the duration of the session, so your kill counts, distance driven, and money earned don't accumulate while cheats are active.
One practical note: some players intentionally play with cheats on a separate save file so their main save's trophy progress and stats stay clean. That's expected to remain viable in GTA 6 — dual save slots are standard.
What cheats won't do this time
Rockstar has been progressively tightening cheat capabilities across the series to preserve the online economy. Expect these limitations at launch:
- No money cheats. GTA V removed direct money-give cheats because they broke the stock market economy. GTA 6 will follow suit.
- No online mode transfer. Cheats affect only single-player. Any progress or items obtained via cheats will not migrate to GTA Online 2.
- No mod-tier cheats. Rockstar's cheats are Rockstar-sanctioned effects only — the modding scene (character models, physics tweaks, custom vehicles) is separate and PC-only, expected only after the PC release in late 2027 or 2028.
Our launch-day cheat tracker
We'll publish every cheat within hours of launch — cross-verified against community submissions from Reddit's r/GTA6, established GTA cheat databases, and independent testing on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Our launch-day methodology mirrors what worked for GTA V's cheat discovery: contributor submits, three-person verification (independent reproduction on both platforms), then live on our tracker page.
Bookmark this page and sign up for the launch alert to get pinged the moment cheats are confirmed. Historically the first batch of cheats is community-discovered within 6-12 hours of launch, and the full roster is usually confirmed within 72 hours.
History: cheats through the GTA series
Cheats have been part of the series since day one, and Rockstar has treated them as a signature feature rather than an afterthought. GTA San Andreas (2004) had over 90 cheats — the most of any Rockstar title, including the infamous jetpack, cat-and-mouse gang wars, and infinite car-air modifier. GTA IV cut the count sharply (about 15 total, all phone-dial) to protect the more grounded tone. GTA V restored the range with roughly 30 cheats across button and phone inputs.
GTA 6's cheat count will probably land between GTA V (30) and San Andreas (90) — datamines from the 2022 leak reference roughly 40 cheat-slot placeholders in the UI, though slots don't necessarily mean unique cheats. Final numbers will only be confirmed post-launch.
Frequently asked
Will GTA 6 have cheat codes?+
Almost certainly yes for single-player mode. Every mainline GTA since GTA III (2001) has shipped with cheats. GTA Online 2 will not have them.
Do cheats disable trophies in GTA 6?+
Expected yes. In every prior GTA, using a cheat during a session disabled trophy/achievement progress until a save reload. Rockstar will almost certainly carry this rule over.
How do you enter cheats in GTA 6?+
Based on GTA V's system, expect an in-game cellphone dial input plus optional controller button combos. Rockstar hasn't officially confirmed the exact method, but the datamined UI strongly implies a phone-based system.
When will the GTA 6 cheat list be available?+
Rockstar historically drip-releases cheats over the first 3 months, but community verification usually completes the full list within 72 hours of launch.
Will there be a money cheat in GTA 6?+
No. Rockstar removed money cheats starting with GTA V to protect the in-game stock market and online economy. This will continue in GTA 6.
How many cheats will GTA 6 have?+
Datamined UI slots suggest around 40, though slot count doesn't guarantee unique cheats. Final numbers will only be confirmed after launch.
