How Much Does GTA 6 Cost?

GTA 6 starts at $69.99 USD on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — the same tier as most first-party AAA console releases in 2026. Rockstar declined to follow Take-Two's tentative $80–$100 experiment from 2K's 2024 sports lineup, and instead held the line at the industry-standard $69.99 Standard tier. Two upgraded editions layer cosmetics, in-game currency, and physical collectibles on top. This guide breaks down every SKU, what's actually inside each one, what the preorder bonuses are worth in real terms, and whether the upgrades pay for themselves versus grinding those items in-game.

All three editions compared

Rockstar is shipping three SKUs for GTA 6. Only the Standard Edition contains base-game content that's exclusive to buying it — everything above Standard is add-on value (cosmetics, currency, physical items), not gated story or map content. That's an important distinction: no matter which edition you buy, you get the same game world, same story, same online mode access at launch.

  • Standard — $69.99 · base game only, digital or physical
  • Deluxe — $99.99 · base + Vice City vehicle pack (5 cars) + 500K GTA$ + early Cayo Airstrip access + digital soundtrack
  • Collector's — $249.99 · Deluxe contents + physical Leonida wall map + Jason & Lucia painted statues + Steelbook case + 96-page art book + numbered Social Club badge

Regional pricing (Standard Edition)

Rockstar follows the standard AAA regional band. Approximate Standard Edition pricing, sourced from retailer listings and Rockstar's own store as of July 2026:

  • US — $69.99
  • UK — £64.99
  • EU — €79.99
  • Canada — CA$89.99
  • Australia — AU$114.95
  • Japan — ¥9,900
  • Brazil — R$349.90
  • Mexico — MXN $1,499
  • India — ₹4,999

Preorder bonuses (all editions)

Preorder any edition to unlock the Trailer 2 vehicle skin pack (5 cars themed to the neon Vice City aesthetic) and a 100K GTA$ boost at first launch. Collector's Edition preorders additionally lock in a numbered edition badge on your Social Club profile — Rockstar has confirmed the Collector's SKU is capped at a limited print run, though they haven't disclosed the exact number.

The 100K GTA$ preorder bonus is worth roughly one weapon MK II conversion, or a full mid-tier vehicle purchase. It's a reasonable head-start but not a game-changer. The vehicle skin pack is pure cosmetic — no performance advantage.

Where to preorder

Digital: PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, and rockstargames.com. Physical Standard and Collector's: Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Argos (UK), JB Hi-Fi (AU), and every major regional retailer that carries first-party AAA releases. The Collector's Edition is direct-only in some regions — check the Rockstar store first if you want the physical map and statues.

One thing to watch: physical copies of GTA 6 still require a large day-one download. Rockstar has confirmed the disc contains the base game data, but expects a 30–60GB launch-day patch. Plan bandwidth accordingly.

Is the Deluxe upgrade worth it?

For most players: yes, but only barely. The 500K GTA$ alone typically covers your first weapon loadout, one starter vehicle upgrade at Leonida Customs, and leaves change for a low-end safehouse — see our best weapons guide for how far that goes. The Vice City vehicle pack is cosmetic-forward but includes at least one high-tier ride (the pink Declasse Vigero ZX skin from Lucia's Trailer 2 appearance).

The Deluxe pays for itself if you value early-game economy. If you're a slow story player who grinds naturally, the $30 upgrade is mostly cosmetic value and Cayo Airstrip early access — skippable.

Is the Collector's Edition worth it?

This is a fan-only purchase. The Deluxe content inside it is worth $99.99. The physical items — Leonida wall map, painted Jason and Lucia statues, Steelbook, 96-page art book, numbered badge — carry the remaining $150. If you're a Rockstar collector or you buy GTA once and play it for a decade, the physical items justify the price the way a Red Dead Redemption 2 Collector's did. If you're a first-time GTA buyer, it's overkill.

One warning: numbered Collector's Editions have appreciated significantly on the secondary market after previous Rockstar releases. Whether that repeats depends on the print run size, which Rockstar hasn't disclosed.

Microtransactions and the online economy

GTA Online 2 (bundled into every edition) includes the Shark Card microtransaction system that GTA Online has used since 2013. The single-player campaign has no microtransactions. Rockstar has publicly committed to no story-mode paywalls and no gameplay-affecting cosmetics in Online 2 at launch — but expect the same GTA Online business model to develop over time.

If you're worried about paying twice: you don't have to. The 500K GTA$ in Deluxe roughly maps to a $20 Shark Card. If you were going to spend anyway, Deluxe is the more efficient purchase.
